As gentle trade winds blow across the beaches, fields and forests of Hawai’i, a gentle rain shower can be a moment of pause as all stop to wait out the rain, enjoying the cool mist and gentle sound.
Often, like with problems, we run from rain, afraid of the inconvenience a little water will bring. A rare few, we know, seem to embrace it, their eyes going bright as water drips off their hair. We may look at them a little crazy. “You’re getting wet!”, we say as though they are oblivious. “Yeah! And I’ll dry off, too!” They say, as though we are just as oblivious. We may join them or walk away shaking our head, but we can’t help but be impressed with how fully they embrace life and what comes.
Nick and Nicole are the bright eyed, carpe diem couple that leave people shaking their heads in awe. When a gentle rain blew in from the ocean just across the way into Kahua Ranch in Waimea, Hawaii, they didn’t run for cover, fretting over hair, makeup or shoes. Kahu Tomasi explained to them that in Hawai’i, a rain on your wedding day was a blessing symbolizing strength and unity. They embraced it with gusto, love and excitement, making the whole day feel like a storybook.
Nestled in the rolling hills of Waimea, surrounded by the graceful presence of horses and the warmth of family and friends, Nick and Nicole sealed their commitment to each other, forever.
As the couple walked together toward the reception, the details of the day began to really come into focus. Standing like a genuine princess, Nicole was a vision to behold, symbolizing all things feminine, graceful, elegant and undeniably pretty. From her delicate shoulderless dress in a wrap style with pearl studded veiled arm length gloves and gorgeous pearl earrings to the tiffany blue open toed heels she wore. Nick, a statue of a man in a sharp black tux with green accented bow-tie and watch, was now a smiling groom with his bride.
The personal touches in their wedding was a sight to behold. We chose hand-selected vintage Hawai’i postcards, lettering the first name of each guest on it as a gift and seating chart. Backdropped by a grand, crimson flowering tree where they said their vows, the small group enjoyed an open coffee and drink bar while relaxing with lavish dinnerware ready for an incredible meal.
As the night unfolded, the couple and their cherished guests danced under the stars, revitalizing with locally sourced delights from Umekes and the rich aroma of locally grown coffee by White Nene Coffee. The celebration culminated with a collective roar to T-Swift’s “Love Story”, bidding us adieu with a graceful bow into the good night.
